Walk with Lights - Daniel Volkov

Just saw this yummy little snow scene by Daniel Volkov. I discovered Daniel Volkov years ago, thanks to the charming Scott Eubanks, owner of Gallery Russia in Scottsdale. He brought out a stack of little Volkov studies for me and my friend, artist Sarah Kidner, to pore over. We couldn’t resist buying a few. I only wish I had bought more.

I can feel this one. The chill and the bustle, and the even the warm glow of the lights on the left side of my face. I love the way the walkers legs fade into the blowing snow.

It has such a strong sense of place, yet the whole thing is just pieces of color.

Ode to a Wrench

I'd have been really stuck today if I hadn't had this baby with me. I went for an impromptu plein air adventure and grabbed some old tubes of paint in a hurry.  When I got on site I discovered the caps were stuck fast!  I would have had to pack up and go home if I hadn't been told to pack a wrench in my plein air bag.  Thanks, little buddy.
